Project description

The specialist in plastics processing uses the industrial and open-air heating systems from the product range of Roth Werke in Dautphetal and thus takes advantage of the synergies within the corporate group. The loading zone with eleven metres of cantilevered roofing and around 750 square metres of heated open space enables safe and weather-independent loading during the cold season. Around 29,000 metres of Roth Duopex 20 millimetre system pipe were used for the hall with open space, which was built in 2016. In the 3,600 square metre logistics hall alone, there are 130 heating circuits laid in a meandering pattern, and the outdoor area accommodates 40 heating circuits. The gentle temperature profile of the industrial panel heating is ideal for storing Roth Plastic Technology's technically demanding products.

Efficient floor construction
Forklift and truck operations, as well as storage racks, place high static, structural and usage-specific demands on the floor structure with Roth industrial and open-space heating. For such applications, the manufacturer enables special system solutions for heating and cooling with various fastening options for system pipes that are adapted to the object-specific requirements. This offers maximum flexibility in pipe installation with regard to the pipe dimensions, installation forms and installation distances used. Roth industrial panel heating can be integrated into any floor, wall and ceiling construction specified by the statics and is suitable for all types of concrete used in these applications (reinforced concrete, steel fibre concrete, rolled concrete). According to the structural requirements, the pipes for the heating and cooling system are integrated into the concrete structure as needed, as well as their hydraulic connection to the power generation system.

Heat utilisation from production
A Roth industrial panel heating system saves energy through low flow temperatures of the heating water. By using the process and waste heat from production, operating costs are minimised and the investment costs pay for themselves after only a short time. Herbert Blodig, Business Manager at Roth Plastic Technology, explained: "Our machines autonomously supply heat for the surface heating system down to outside temperatures of -6 degrees Celsius. We currently have 38 injection moulding machines in operation." The waste heat is efficiently fed into the heat distribution network via a modular energy centre from Oni-Wärmetrafo with heat exchanger, pumps and control system.

Climate-neutral production in Wolfgruben
The greatest possible protection of resources and the environment as well as the maximum use of renewable energies are an integral part of Roth's corporate philosophy. The logistics centre in Wolfgruben meets the latest energy standards. As one of the first companies in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district, Roth Plastic Technology has been producing in Wolfgruben in a climate-neutral manner since 2017. From 2,052 tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2012, Roth Plastic Technology was able to reduce its levels by around 95 per cent to around 120 tonnes in 2017. To avoid emissions, the manufacturer uses new energy-efficient injection moulding machines. Roth also installed a photovoltaic system on its own factory premises. The manufacturer saves part of its emissions by purchasing 100 per cent green electricity from hydropower since 2016. Roth offsets the remaining 120 tonnes of unavoidable CO2 emissions via the compensation fund Klima-Kollekte in Berlin, thus making its production climate-neutral.

Innovative: Roth System Pipes
Roth System Pipes with proven S5 CoEx technology are used for industrial panel heating. Thanks to the fivefold coextrusion in one production run, the sandwich material of the Roth Duopex S5 System Pipes ensures optimum adhesion between the pipe layers. The pipes offer maximum resistance due to their mechanical, thermal and chemical properties and thus take into account the harsh construction site requirements of large-scale projects. The EVOH oxygen barrier layer is protected against external influences such as heat and moisture by a polymer and a polyethylene layer. The pipe has the highest resistance to deformation due to punctual mechanical stress. By preventing oxygen exchange, it is particularly durable. Roth System Pipes thus ensure optimum functional reliability in continuous operation.

Customised solutions for large areas
In addition to industrial and open-space heating systems, the manufacturer offers system solutions for sports and sprung floors. To utilise the storage capacity of solid concrete ceilings and wall components, the Dautphetal-based manufacturer offers the Isocore concrete core temperature control system. It enables building temperature control for heating and cooling by integrating the water-carrying pipe system directly into solid concrete ceilings and wall components, thus utilising their storage capacity. New office and administration buildings with large building storage masses are particularly suitable for Roth Isocore concrete core temperature control. Roth offers individual, project-specific solutions that take into account the structural design specifications of the building. Complete project support from consultation and planning to site instruction by the Roth project department guarantees customised results.
