Operating principle

The energy supply for domestic hot water and heating is provided by a central heat source in a 2-pipe system. The domestic hot water is heated using the flow-through principle in a coated stainless steel plate heat exchanger.

The individually set domestic hot water temperature is ensured via a thermal fluid regulator (TFR). The desired hot water temperature is set at the thermostatic head of the TFR.

Another TFR interrupts the supply to the heating circuits for radiant heating and high temperature. This process takes place immediately when hot water is drawn off and is called hot water priority circuit.

To prevent supply fluctuations during operation, a differential pressure controller is integrated on the primary heating side.

A dirt trap is also included on the primary heating side to ensure the functional reliability of the control fittings and metering device.

The radiant heating is supplied by a powerful high-efficiency circulation pump. The flow temperature is regulated by means of a thermostatic 3-way mixing valve, precisely and reliably, to a fixed set value.

In addition to the panel heating, it is possible to supply an additional radiator via the high-temperature outlet, which is fed from the primary-side heating network.

The integration of a high-efficiency circulation pump ensures that the hot water temperature is maintained within the supply network. This ensures comfortable and hygienically safe operation of the domestic hot water network. A time-dependent control is not provided.

The heat exchanger - the heart of the system

As a drinking water and heat distribution centre for individual flats, the Roth FlatConnect heat interface units meet all requirements for drinking water hygiene and comfort in the housing industry. Drinking water is heated in an energy-efficient manner using the continuous flow principle.
Short reaction times when switching from hot water preparation to heating mode and vice versa, as well as constant hot water temperatures, underline the high quality standard of the FlatConnect apartment stations and ensure a high level of user comfort.

The high-performance heat exchanger in the FlatConnect heat interface units is highly corrosion-resistant due to its sealed surfaces in contact with the water. The self-cleaning and limescale- and coating-repellent properties also ensure optimum water quality and system efficiency.

Due to the fact that there is no water storage and that the pipe volume between the drinking water heater and the tap is usually less than three litres, these installations are classified as small systems in accordance with DVGW worksheet W 551.* With this supply concept, the annual obligation to test for legionella can be waived in accordance with the German Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV).

* Therefore, no requirements are placed on the drinking water temperatures.
