The Roth plants in Buchenau and Roth Plastic Technology in Wolfgruben have again been certified according to the environmental audit system EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). Environmental auditor Frank Meckel confirmed the environmental management system at both locations and signed the company's current environmental statement.
Roth has been certified according to EMAS since 2010. Every three years, Roth Plastic Technology in Dautphetal-Wolfgruben and the Roth plants in Dautphetal-Buchenau undergo recertification, with annual monitoring audits taking place in between. For certification, an environmental programme with firmly defined environmental goals for the next three years must be drawn up.
Sustainability and environmental protection
In the case of the manufacturer's energy-efficient products, environmental protection refers to the entire value chain. "For us, preventive, production-integrated environmental protection begins with the planning of production and production facilities," emphasises managing partner Christin Roth-Jäger.
For example, part of the environmental programme of Buchenauer Roth-Werke is to replace the existing oil heating system in a production hall with heat pump technology, whose energy requirements are covered entirely by renewable sources. "Since 2016, we have already been purchasing exclusively green electricity generated from wind and water power," says Christin Roth-Jäger. The oil heating system at the Wolfgruben site is also being replaced by CO2-neutral heat pump technology.
Roth Plastic Technology compensates for unavoidable emissions via the compensation fund Klima-Kollekte and has thus already been operating in a climate-neutral manner since 2017.
"As a family business, it is very important to us to take our social responsibility into account, which is why we pursue an ambitious climate protection programme and have developed our own environmental management system. Resource conservation is an integral part of our corporate philosophy," emphasised Roth Managing Director Christin Roth-Jäger.
Background information EMAS
The environmental audit system EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) is considered one of the strictest regulations in environmental protection. It is an instrument developed by the European Communities in 1993 for the voluntary environmental management and auditing of companies that want to improve their environmental performance beyond the requirements of environmental law. The structure of an environmental management system and the procedures correspond to ISO 14001.
