One brand, many strengths

Roth Environmental Management recertified according to EMAS

Roth Werke in Buchenau and Roth Plastic Technology in Wolfgruben have once again been certified according to the EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) environmental management system. Environmental auditor Frank Meckel confirmed the environmental management system at both locations and signed the company's current environmental statement.

Roth has been EMAS certified since 2011. Every three years, Roth Plastic Technology in Dautphetal-Wolfgruben and Roth Werke in Dautphetal-Buchenau undergo recertification, with annual surveillance audits taking place in between. To obtain certification, an environmental programme with clearly defined environmental targets for the next three years must be drawn up.

Sustainability and environmental protection

Environmental protection refers to the entire value chain for the manufacturer's energy-efficient products. "Preventive, production-integrated environmental protection begins with us in the planning of production and production facilities," emphasised managing partner Christin Roth-Jäger. For example, part of the environmental programme at Roth-Werke in Buchenau was to replace the existing oil heating system in a production hall with heat pump technology, whose energy requirements are covered exclusively by renewable sources – a measure that has been fully implemented.
"Since 2016, we have been purchasing exclusively green electricity generated from wind and hydro power," said Christin Roth-Jäger. At the Wolfgruben site, too, the combustion of heating oil is to be replaced by low-CO2 technologies.
Roth Plastic Technology offsets unavoidable emissions through the Klima-Kollekte compensation fund and has been producing CO2-neutrally since 2017.
"As a family business, it is very important to us to fulfil our social responsibility, which is why we are pursuing an ambitious climate protection programme and have developed our own environmental management system. Resource conservation is an integral part of our corporate philosophy," emphasised Roth Managing Director Christin Roth-Jäger.

Background information on EMAS

The EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) environmental audit system is considered one of the strictest regulations in environmental protection. It is an instrument developed by the European Communities in 1993 for voluntary environmental management and environmental auditing of companies that want to improve their environmental performance beyond the requirements of environmental legislation. The structure of the environmental management system and the processes comply with ISO 14001.
