Musical bouquet dedicated to the memory of Manfred Roth

Prague Royal Philharmonic to perform in the Manfred Roth Atrium on 31 May and 1 June 2025 - ticket sales begin

In the year between the festivals, the Eckelshausen Music Days will present two extraordinary musical bouquets on the weekend of 31 May and 1 June 2025 in the Manfred Roth Atrium in Buchenau: Under the title "Flowers from Prague", the Prague Royal Philharmonic and the Prague Royal Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Heiko Mathias Förster will bring significant works by Czech and Austrian composers to bloom with great soloists.

The opening concert on Saturday, 31 May 2025 at 19:00 will be dedicated to the memory of Man-red Roth, who died suddenly in January. His many years of commitment and his great support for the Musiktage were and are of inestimable value. The South Tyrolean Bernhard Plagg, principal trumpeter of the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, will perform Joseph Haydn's technically demanding Trumpet Concerto in E flat major together with the Prague Royal Philharmonic in his honour as an admirer of the trumpet. The first part of the concert will be accompanied by works from the world of Viennese waltzes: the "Flower Festival Polka" by Johann Strauss, "Was Blumen träumen" by Siegfried Translateur and "Rosen aus dem Süden" by Johann Strauss. In the second part of the concert, the Czech musicians will perform Antonin Dvorak's "Symphony from the New World" op. 95 in E minor, a truly masterful bouquet that combines the tradition of European symphonic music with influences from American music.

"Yes, cello!" is the name of the bouquet on Sunday, 1 June 2025, and the concert can be combined with a musical reading at 11.00 a.m. in the Protestant Church in Eckelshausen. In his new book "Ja, Cello!", the artistic director of the Musiktage, Prof Julius Berger, reflects on important musical encounters that have shaped his career. In conversation with Matthias Mayr, presenter at RAI Bolzano, he will also shed light on important stages of his career. Tickets cost EUR 15.

Haydn's cheerful Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major with Korean cellist Hyun-Jung Ber-ger and the Prague Royal Chamber Orchestra will contrast with Béla Bartók's "6 Romanian Folk Dances" at 3.00 pm in the Manfred Roth Atrium in Buchenau, a homage to the musical traditions of Eastern Europe in which Bartók skilfully combines rousing rhythms and authentic melodies. The intermezzo ends with Antonin Dvorak's famous "Serenade for Strings" in E minor op. 22, a work that creates a very special atmosphere with its flowing melodies and the fine tuning of the string parts.

These marvellous bouquets are also ideal as gifts.
