Sustainability, resource conservation and transparency are becoming increasingly important in building services engineering too. Roth Werke sees this commitment validated by several independent assessments and certifications: The parent company Roth Industries was awarded the Silver Medal in the international EcoVadis sustainability rating; key components of the Roth surface heating and cooling system hold the SHI product passport from the Sentinel Holding Institute; and the environmental management of the production sites has once again been certified under the European environmental management system EMAS.
Roth has further improved its score in the globally recognised EcoVadis sustainability rating. With the Silver Medal, the company ranks among the top six per cent of assessed companies in its sector worldwide. The assessment takes into account criteria relating to the environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. The strong result is based, among other things, on the introduction of additional corporate guidelines, expanded sustainability reporting and a further developed management system for environmental responsibility and ethical conduct.
Sustainable building technology transparently documented
At the product level too, Roth Werke relies on verifiable sustainability credentials. The digital SHI product passport from the Sentinel Holding Institute has been awarded for key components of Roth’s surface heating and cooling systems. The product passport certifies tested construction products and facilitates the documentation required for building certifications according to standards such as DGNB, QNG, BNB or BREEAM. Planners, construction companies and auditors gain quick access to relevant sustainability information on the system components via the institute’s central database.
Via the interface to the DGNB Navigator, the relevant products can also be directly incorporated into sustainable construction projects. “In this way, Roth supports planners and building owners in implementing construction projects with high standards for healthy living, resource conservation and energy efficiency,” emphasises Rüdiger Heinz, Sales Manager of the Energy Systems division at Roth.
Comprehensive environmental management
In parallel, the environmental management systems at Roth’s Buchenau site and at Roth Plastic Technology in Wolfgruben have once again been certified under the European environmental audit scheme EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). EMAS is regarded as one of the most demanding environmental management systems in Europe and requires companies to continuously improve their environmental performance and to produce transparent environmental reports.
Roth has been EMAS-certified since 2011 and undergoes regular recertification as well as annual surveillance audits. The environmental programme includes, among other things, measures to increase energy efficiency, expand renewable energy sources and continuously reduce emissions in production and operations.
