Listed residential building

in Duisburg

The owner of a listed residential building in Duisburg relied on an energy-efficient overall system from a single source for the renovation and extension of his building. A new piping system for hygienic drinking water supply, a total of 240 square meters of radiant heating including control, an externally installed air/water deheating pump and a plastic heat tank as a separating storage tank bring the latest technology into the historic house.

The entire plumbing installation was carried out by the specialist company Samid Huskic GbR from Duisburg using the pipe installation system from Roth Werke in Dautphetal. Around 200 meters of Roth Alu-Laserplus system pipe in dimensions 17 to 40 millimeters convey the drinking water from the water meter to the various tapping points. In addition to the Roth Alu-Laserplus multilayer composite pipe, the Roth pipe installation system, which has been tried and tested in practice for many years, includes Roth plastic fittings made of the high-performance plastic PPSU (polyphenylsulfone). This material has high pressure and temperature resistance and is suitable for long-term hot water use. The range is complemented by Roth threaded metal fittings for the connection and transition points. The system is suitable for a maximum permanent operating temperature of 70 degrees Celsius at ten bar and a short-term maximum operating temperature of 95 degrees Celsius at six bar operating pressure. The components in the Roth range are resistant to corrosion and incrustation. They can be used for all drinking water qualities. All fittings feature the integrated Roth PressCheck for safe installations. The Roth PressCheck enables forced leakage in the unpressed state in accordance with DVGW worksheet W534: as part of the leak test, a defined amount of water escapes from an unpressed connection. An unpressed fitting can be identified immediately within the entire pipe system. The fittings are also suitable for the installation of Roth panel heating systems.

For hygienic drinking water distribution throughout the house, the specialist company Samid Huskic installed a pipe network with components from the Roth pipe installation system.

Roth ClimaComfort TBS was used on the upper floor of the listed building. The dry construction system for the radiant heating was suitable due to its low weight per unit area and low installation height.

The right radiant heating for every floor
On the first floor, around 140 square meters of Roth Original Tacker System were used for radiant heating and cooling. The low load-bearing capacity and a height difference of around eight centimeters on the upper floor of the listed building severely restricted the choice of radiant heating systems. Due to the low weight per unit area and the low overall construction height of 43 millimeters, the Roth ClimaComfort TBS dry construction system was suitable for this area of around 100 square meters. The specialist company Samid Huskic prepared the existing floor with a leveling screed before installing the radiant heating. The installation of the ClimaComfort TBS is simple, fast and easy to install, as only one type of system board is used. The panels can be combined with each other in all directions in a 30-centimeter grid and can be cut to fit the room geometry. A groove/nose system allows the system panels to be laid and aligned precisely in relation to one another. The panel structure allows the heat-conducting lamellas to be fixed easily and securely in different directions and positions on the panel. The Roth Alu-Laserflex System Pipes 14 and 16 millimeters can thus be laid horizontally, vertically and diagonally. The Roth heat-conducting lamellas are made of high-performance aluminum and thus ensure particularly good heat transfer. They have predetermined breaking points for adjustment to the required lengths. The smallest possible laying distance for the diffusion-tight and dimensionally stable Roth Alu-Laserflex System Pipe is 15 centimeters. The Roth ClimaComfort TBS offers great architectural design freedom and is therefore particularly suitable for modernization projects.

Sustainable energy generation and storage
In combination with the surface heating and cooling systems, a heat pump is suitable as an environmentally friendly heat generator due to the low-temperature application. The client opted for the Roth AuraModul FR 12 kW E performance-controlled air-water heat pump for outdoor installation. Its demand-based heat output makes it particularly energy-efficient. The heat pump has an active cooling function. To hydraulically decouple the heat generator circuit from the heating circuit, Samid Huskic combined the Roth Thermotank Quadroline TQ-T 500 plastic heat storage tank as a separating tank. It can be integrated directly into the heating system with a permanent operating pressure of up to three bar. The storage tank's innovative plastic composite material with integrated diffusion protection in combination with special EPS high-performance insulation enables efficient minimization of heat losses. Due to the ideal thermal insulation properties of the storage material, the energy balance of the RothThermotank is significantly better compared to metallic storage materials. The storage tank weighs only around 50 kilograms, which simplified transport and installation for Huskic's specialist company. Another plus point of the plastic composite material is that it is corrosion-free.

The Roth Thermotank Quadroline plastic heat storage tank weighs only 50 kilograms and was therefore easy to transport and install.

Advice, planning, products - all from a single source
Klaus Schröder, technical sales at Roth, had advised Samid Huskic and planned the energy-efficient and environmentally friendly system concept. In this way, the specialist company and the client received a perfectly coordinated overall system from a single source. Klaus Schröder emphasized: "As part of our 'Roth ServiceXtra' service package, we offer our customers extensive after-sales services, warranties and guarantees in addition to the planning. All components of the overall system are finely tuned to each other and represent a sustainable and energy-efficient system solution for the user."
