Goethe School

in Wetzlar

With a best-practice project, the planning office Rehling Energie-Technik from Herborn and the Buchenau-based Roth Werke seal their more than 30 years of successful cooperation. At the same time, the planning office celebrated its 30th anniversary in October 2020. From the very beginning, entrepreneur Klaus Rehling relied on Roth products for planning construction projects. Even before the anniversary year, he planned the new building of the Goethe School in Wetzlar with a Roth radiant panel heating system.

Construction work on the new Goethe School building in Wetzlar began in April 2019. The client, the Lahn-Dill region in Wetzlar, plans to move into the new school building in summer 2021. The district is investing 35 million euros in the school construction project, creating a modern environment for education in the Hessian city. The new building extends over four floors and is equipped with 49 classrooms, 17 science rooms, 12 rooms for administration, an auditorium, a lecture hall and a media library. A glass-roofed atrium in the middle of the building provides work areas and break facilities in "Goethe's Garden". The overall building project also includes the new construction of the Theodor Heuss School in Wetzlar. The planning for this is also being carried out by the Rehling planning office.

Project description

Feel-good building technology for teachers and pupils
Ideal conditions for teaching and learning in the Goethe School are created with the gentle radiant heat of radiant heating. For the more than 12,000 square metres of heated space with 629 heating circuits, Rehling Energie-Technik planned the Roth Original Tacker System. Here, the heating pipe is fixed to the insulation using tacker tools and the Original Tacker Clips. Nearly 70,000 metres of system pipes and 60 heating circuit distributors were installed in the school by Klima-Bau-Volk, a sanitary, heating and air-conditioning specialist from Wetzlar. A measurement, control and regulation system enables central operation of the radiant heating  via room sensors, and a PC building facility management system maps the individual room and zone regulation. Energy is provided by a combined heat and power unit as a base load supply with a double peak load boiler system with 250 kilowatts each.

Solution-oriented project management
Rehling Energie-Technik specialises in the planning of TGA systems for municipal and industrial buildings as well as special technology for fire and rescue stations. In thirty years, Klaus Rehling has built up a company that today, with ten employees, meets customer requirements in a solution-oriented manner. The entrepreneur explains: "We identify with every task and design future-proof TGA systems for every individual application. The basis for this is a clearly structured quality and project management."
The bond with the Roth company began for him even before the planning office was founded. Klaus Rehling remembers: "As an apprentice, I myself learned how to install radiant heating with the Roth Original Tacker System."
The system has been around for over 40 years. Roth is one of the pioneers of radiant heating and today offers radiant heating and cooling systems for installation on floors, walls and ceilings. Whether for detached houses and apartment buildings, office and administration buildings, shops or industrial halls - depending on the building project, there is a wide range of system solutions for new buildings and increasingly for renovation in dry and wet construction.
Christin Roth-Jäger, Managing Director of Roth Werke, emphasised: "Owner-managed and family-run companies pursue similar values and focus on the personal customer relationship. We are pleased and proud that we have been successfully associated with the Rehling planning office on this basis for many decades. Congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the office!"
